Lodging
There are numerous places to stay in and around Disney World. Many beautiful motels, or even condo rentals, can be found, often at savings of 30% or more off Disney resort prices.
Meals
You know you will pay top dollar for meals anywhere on the Disney property, so planning is key to saving money. Having access to kitchen facilities is great, especially for a large family. Plan your meals for the length of your stay. Shop at a local supermarket for reasonable prices. Enjoy a big breakfast. You can then lighten your lunch to snacks that you can carry to the park, and have dinner at your room. The savings can be tremendous.
Transportation
If you plan on visiting other attractions while in the Orlando area, a rental car might be required. If Disney World is your only destination, take into account that many hotels offer free shuttle service to the complex. Once inside, transportation is free. You'll save rental car expenses plus parking fees which can add up quickly.
Tickets
There are a variety of Disney World ticket options available. The best choice is to buy a base ticket in advance. There are 4 main theme parks at Disney World. Base tickets allow admission into only one of the parks each day. This is recommended if traveling with small children. As a new feature, Disney allows you to add options onto your ticket, once you have arrived, for an extra fee. These options include the water parks or park hopping within the same day. There is also a no expiration option. This allows re-entrance to the parks at a future date, with any unused days from the original ticket. If unable to see everything the first time around, this is a great cost cutter for a return trip.
Package Deals
Again, the key to saving money on a Walt Disney World vacation is to plan ahead and do your homework. Great package deals are constantly being offered by travel agents, airlines and even Disney World itself. Discounted rooms, airline fares, or even free meal plans can be found.
